Nebraska State Director Maxine Moul of USDA Rural Development was in western Nebraska this week to tour projects in Chadron that were funded by Rural Development, to meet with Alliance community leaders and to host an open house at the USDA Service Center in Scottsbluff.

Moul toured the hospital construction site in Chadron with Harold Kruger, Hospital CEO and Deb Cottier, the newly named Director for Northwest Nebraska Development Corporation. She also visited Marguerite Vey-Miller and the staff at High Plains Community Development to discuss continued partnership opportunities with USDA Rural Development. Moul visited ChadRad, who was a recipient of an energy efficiency grant to replace their heating ventilation and air conditioning system. In Alliance, Moul had lunch with the Alliance Chamber of Commerce and business and economic development leaders. Moul was the guest of honor at an open house held at the newly remodeled USDA Service Center in Scottsbluff. The Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service and Rural Development hosted the event which included tours of the facility, program information and networking opportunities for community leaders, local business people, ag producers, lenders and area residents.

USDA Rural Development administered nearly $195 million in grants, loans and loan guarantees in Nebraska last fiscal year for housing, business and community development, telecommunications, value-added activities and electricity. Since 2000, over $1 billion has been invested in Nebraska through Rural Development programs.
