USDA Rural Development Assists Homer
Nebraska Ag Connection - 07/29/2016

USDA Rural Development announces its funding of $823,000 to the Village of Homer that will be used for water system improvements including the installation of a new well.

"The Village of Homer is grateful for the funding opportunity to improve the Village's water system. The new well project will provide a high quality water source that is vital to allow for the growth of the community and improve the quality of life of Homer's residents," said Dawn Maslonka, Village of Homer.

"A small part of town has had trouble with low water pressure and iron bacteria has caused high maintenance costs for some of the wells. The primary purpose of this loan is to upgrade the existing facilities and construct new facilities. This project will help mitigate the problem by abandoning wells that have those high maintenance costs and boost the water pressure to the small area of town experiencing low water pressure," said USDA Rural Development Community Programs Loan Assistant, Anthony Guenther.

The project was funded through the USDA Rural Development Community Facility Direct Loan Program. Visit: http://www.rd.usda.gov/programs-services/community-facilities-direct-loan-grant-program/ne.
