Central Plains Irrigation Conference Feb. 23-24
Nebraska Ag Connection - 02/09/2016
The 2016 Central Plains Irrigation Conference and Exposition will take place Feb. 23-24 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Kearney, Neb. Kansas State University, Colorado State University, the University of Nebraska and the Central Plains Irrigation
Association sponsor the annual event.
The conference will include technical irrigation sessions presented by academic researchers from the areas of agronomy and irrigation engineering, for example, as well as representatives from irrigation companies and governmental agencies such as the U.S.
Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service.
Sessions will include information on the latest irrigation system tools and performance, center pivot updates, soil and water management practices, groundwater monitoring, cropping system impacts on irrigation management, variable rate irrigation mapping and
irrigation management with limited water.
"A unique aspect of this particular conference is that it does focus on irrigation systems and management," said Danny Rogers, Kansas State University professor and extension agricultural engineer. "Besides the educational technical sessions, we will have a fairly
large collection of displays in the exposition. The sessions will talk about some of the latest technologies and their applications, and then those attending will have a chance to interact with the industry folks who are providing irrigation products."
Rogers said the conference has something for everyone. It includes a menu-driven program, so participants can choose what to attend during the two days. The sessions will be presented twice to ensure participants have more than one opportunity to attend.
Typically, 30 to 50 trade vendors are part of the exposition, he said.
Registration is $105 per person for the two-day conference, which includes on-site meals. For a complete program and registration information, visit www.k-state.edu/sdi/revents/cpiaprog.html. More information is available by contacting Donna Lamm at
