Connecting Young Nebraskans Summit to Draw Leaders to Pender
Nebraska Ag Connection - 10/12/2018

Connecting Young Nebraskans (CYN), a statewide network designed to connect, empower and retain young leaders across Greater Nebraska, will host its biennial summit on Nov. 7 at the Pender Community Center in Pender, Neb. Designed around the theme "Community, Collaboration, Change," the event will convene young people from across the state to engage in open-space conversations around topics critical to the future of our communities. Registration is now open at: /nebraskacommunityfoundation.regfox.com/cynsummit18.

CYN's unique "un-conference" style will feature peer-to-peer discussion groups throughout the day, building on one another though open space facilitation. Speakers hail from communities across the state including O'Neill, Seward, Kimball and Broken Bow and will share their perspectives on a variety of subjects on the minds of young Nebraskans from environmental sustainability to immigration to people attraction.

"Young leaders are critical to the future our state," said Jonathan Jank, Co-Chair of the CYN Fund Advisory Committee. "The CYN Summit will provide a rare opportunity for these young, engaged community builders to meet with people like them, synthesize their shared goals, and forge a path forward."

Originally housed within the Rural Futures Institute at the University of Nebraska, CYN recently found a new home at Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF). As an affiliated fund of NCF, CYN joins the ranks of over 200 community-based, organizational, and donor-advised funds across the state that enjoy the financial management, peer-to-peer learning, training and other services provided exclusively to members of the Nebraska Community Foundation network.

From 2:30 to 4 p.m., NCF and CYN will lead a joint session centered on the topic of "Change." This breakout will allow members of both statewide networks to connect, find common ground, and work together to accomplish their shared goal of building stronger, more vibrant communities across the state.

"The partnership between CYN and NCF will continue to grow the network and create a powerful message for young leaders to engage with their community, learn from other leaders, and to infuse their energy and ideas into the decision-making processes. I am so inspired to see how these two entities continue to thoughtfully energize and grow communities," said Kayla Schnuelle, CYN Fund Advisory Member.
