Cozad Receives USDA Economic Development Grant

U.S. Senator Deb Fischer, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, issued the following statement Wednesday after the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the city of Cozad will receive a $300,000 grant from the Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant Program:

"This grant will have a significant impact on the residents of Cozad, as the community builds an industrial park to increase economic development in the city and surrounding area. The investment will help complete the groundwork for the project so that new businesses can build in this growing city."

This Rural Development investment will be used to provide grants to rural utilities program borrowers to provide economic development. This project will assist with completing infrastructure development on an industrial park owned by Cozad Development Corporation, extending water, sewer, and a road to the site, in order to further develop and construct buildings on the site for new businesses. There are two companies currently looking to locate on this site once prepared- a hotel and a beverage processor. This project will create eight jobs in the city of Cozad, which has a population of 3,977 people.
